Job Title: SEN Full-time Head Nanny

Salary and benefits: $130,000 + per annum, with full benefits package
 
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated SEN Nanny to join a warm and dynamic family based in Aspen, CO. This role involves caring for two children, aged 9 and 6. The ideal candidates will be proactive, energetic, and passionate about childcare, with a strong emphasis on education and creative development, as well as a strong knowledge of special education and in particular ADHD and ASD.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for the children. 
  • Safely transport children to and from school, after-school activities, and appointments.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily play, learning activities, and extracurricular activities, including sports, music lessons, and playdates.
  • Collaborate with specialists and put into practice methods that have been suggested by specialists and the special school.
  • Help children with homework and school projects.
  • Travel both Nationally and Internationally; sometimes for long periods of time (i.e., 1 month)
  • Accompany the family on domestic and international trips, ensuring the children’s routines are maintained (eg. 1 month in Switzerland every summer and travel during school holidays)
  • Manage children’s wardrobes, and organize clothing and laundry
  • Prepare and pack for all children’s travel needs, including but not limited to:
    • Preparing for long travel and wait times with planned activities and games, proactively identifying how to teach and maintain skills during travel and difficult situations, and understanding children’s strengths and needs to be prepared to help them through times of challenging behavior.
    • Packing all necessary items (i.e., clothes, outdoor gear, hygiene supplies, comfort stuffed animals/blankets, etc.) and travel bag/entertainment/food/preferred activities and games for long travel and wait times//etc.
    • Research/plan activities based on children’s skills and interests at the destination and ensure appropriate gear is available at another residence, hotel, or resort
  • Organize schedule for self and junior nanny, equally dividing hours and time off.
  • Support the more junior Nanny so that the household can run efficiently.
  • Prepare healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for the children.
  • All duties related to the children’s areas, ensuring a tidy and organized environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality about all aspects of the Family
  • Provide assistance to Family with other errands/duties outside of the responsibilities with children (i.e., grocery shopping, tidying kitchen, etc.)

 
 
Qualifications and Skills:

  • Childcare-related qualification is essential, as well as strong knowledge and experience with special education. Experience with self-directed learning and working with ADHD/ASD children is a plus.
  • Must be able to swim and supervise children during swimming activities.
  • Someone proactive, experienced, and responsible who knows his/her duties.
  • A valid driver’s license is required – must be happy to get a Colorado driver’s license after hire.
  • Fluency in English is essential and additional languages are a plus.
  • A cheerful and enthusiastic individual who loves working with children.
  • Open to new ideas and creativity in planning activities that challenge and engage the children at home and abroad.
  • Able to anticipate the needs of the children and family and act accordingly
  • Work well in a team environment with other household staff
  • USA passport or Permanent resident holder (EU passport holder is beneficial)
  • Pet friendly
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities

 
Working hours and days:
 

  • Full-time, with two days off each. Required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with OT paid for time over 40 hours or if required to work during holidays.
  • Flexibility with schedule provided there is coordination and approval between both nannies and family.

 
Benefits:

  • $130,000+ per annum
  • Relocation assistance provided within an approved range by family, details to be discussed during the interview process.
