Salary: £35,000 circa + tips and profit share

Achieve Hospitality are delighted to be partnering with a stylish, art-deco gastropub in the heart of Brookmans Park. It serves modern British food made with seasonal, ethically sourced ingredients. Expect everything from relaxed breakfasts to a la carte dinners, Sunday roasts, craft cocktails, and local ales.
The space features a striking interior, island bar, garden room, and outdoor terrace—ideal for all-day dining or drinks.
They are on the hunt for a talented and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join their Kitchen Brigade.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef in preparing and delivering high-quality, consistent dishes.
- Lead the kitchen team during service and in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Supervise and train junior staff to maintain standards and efficiency.
- Oversee stock control, ordering, and minimise food waste.
- Maintain strict food hygiene, health & safety standards (HACCP/EHO).
- Assist with menu development and seasonal specials.
- Ensure smooth communication between kitchen and front-of-house.
- Help plan and execute food service for events and busy periods.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie in a busy kitchen (gastropub or similar).
- Solid knowledge of modern British cuisine and seasonal cooking with fresh ingredients.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and mentoring a kitchen team.
- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and lead during busy services.
- Skilled in stock control, ordering, and waste management.
- A passion for fresh, quality ingredients and consistently high food standards.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities across kitchen and front-of-house.
- Level 2 or 3 Food Safety Certificate.
- Culinary qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) are preferred.
