Schedule: 5 days per week (including weekends when principals are in residence; time off in lieu during the week)

Job Overview
We are seeking an exceptionally professional, discreet, and service-driven Private Butler to join a prestigious private household in the Cotswold area. Working closely with the current House Manager/Butler, you will share shifts when the principals are in residence to deliver seamless, high-level service at all times.
 
This is a multi-faceted position requiring a polished professional who can combine formal service, guest care, valeting, household management support, and light housekeeping when needed. You will also travel to the principals’ UK and overseas residences to maintain service consistency wherever they are in residence.
 
 In addition, you will assist with high-standard housekeeping when required, including the care of fine silver, crystal, and service linens, high-level cleaning, and maintaining the main residence and guest accommodation in pristine condition.

Key Responsibilities
Butler Duties

• Welcoming and attending to guests upon arrival
• Formal table setting and service for principals and guests
• Serving wines, cocktails, and other beverages
• Maintaining and presenting silverware, chinaware, and crystal to immaculate standards
• Care of service linens
• Care of fires and replenishment of logs
• Supporting the House Manager with event planning and household organisation
• Managing inventory and service-related supplies
• Ensuring pantries and service areas remain immaculate
• Reporting defects or maintenance issues promptly
• Supervising contractors when required
• Overseeing temporary staff during events
• Opening and closing the house in line with security protocols
• Managing the wine cellar in line with the House Manager’s guidance
• Carrying out administrative errands for household operations

Valeting Duties

• Wardrobe management for the male principal
• Shoe cleaning and maintenance
• Packing/unpacking for principals in coordination with the London Butler
• Dry cleaning errands and arranging repairs
• Coordinating wardrobe locations with the London Butler

Travel Duties

• Travel to UK and overseas residences as required
• Providing cover and support to the London Butler when needed

Housekeeping Support

• Supporting deep cleaning and routine schedules
• High-level cleaning, including chandeliers and fine finishes
• Care and polishing of brass, silver, and other metals
• Cleaning and preparing fireplaces and utensils
• Assisting with weekly shopping and household supplies
• Liaising with the Head Housekeeper
• Ensuring all accommodation areas remain immaculate and welcoming

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a Butler or in a senior service role within a UHNW private household or luxury hospitality setting
• Impeccable attention to detail and presentation standards
• Strong knowledge of formal service, wine and drinks presentation, and event protocol
• Skilled in wardrobe management, shoe care, and packing/unpacking
• Flexible and adaptable, comfortable with varied duties and shifting priorities
• Able to travel domestically and internationally when required
• Discreet, trustworthy, and committed to confidentiality
• Proactive, hands-on, and collaborative work style
