Salary: £75,000 gross per annum + bonus
Overview and opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and professional Butler to support a fully staffed private residence in London. The successful candidate will deliver seamless formal and informal service, ensuring a high standard of hospitality and presentation at all times. This is a long-term role, ideal for someone who thrives in a structured household and is confident supporting events and day-to-day service in a discreet and polished manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver formal and informal service, including silver service and table settings
- Serve drinks and meals, organising formal dinners, events, and daily routines
- Welcome and attend to guests, ensuring a high level of discretion and professionalism
- Maintain the butler’s area/kitchen, dining areas, and service equipment
- Coordinate with the chef and housekeeping team to ensure smooth and efficient service
- Prepare indoor and outdoor areas for guest use, maintaining immaculate standards
- Assist with ad hoc personal service, admin and household-related tasks
- Maintain confidentiality, a calm presence, and service excellence at all times
- Travelling for up to a month each year
Ideal Candidate
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a private household, with proven longevity in roles
- Expert in formal table service and etiquette
- Discreet, polished, and proactive with strong attention to detail
- Confident in hosting both formal events and casual gatherings
- Flexible to work occasional weekends when the principals are in residence or entertaining
- Based in London and able to commute daily
- Fluent in English with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
