Overview and Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Demi Chef de Partie to join a private family kitchen in the Geneva area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their culinary career who is passionate about food and eager to learn. Working in a supportive and professional environment, you will assist the senior chefs in daily operations, gaining hands-on experience across various sections of the kitchen. The role offers real potential for progression and development within a respectful and well-organised setting.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist with chopping, peeling, and preparing ingredients for dishes as directed by senior chefs
- Help with cooking and assembling dishes, including preparing stocks, sauces, and garnishes
- Maintain a clean and organised workstation, following food safety and hygiene standards (e.g. HACCP)
- Rotate through different kitchen sections, including:
- Hot Section: grill, sauté, fry stations
- Cold Section: salads, appetisers, desserts
- Pastry Section: baking and dessert preparation
- Prep Section: general mise en place tasks
- Assist with stock control and ensure ingredients are stored correctly
- Continue developing your culinary skills under the guidance of experienced chefs
Candidate Requirements
- Basic understanding of cooking techniques and kitchen terminology
- Strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
- Good time management skills and the ability to stay organised during busy periods
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to take direction
- Clear communication skills to work efficiently with the wider kitchen team
- Comfortable being on your feet for extended periods and performing hands-on tasks throughout the day
Qualifications
- Culinary Arts Diploma or NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery (preferred)
- Some previous experience in a kitchen environment (e.g. internship, kitchen assistant) is beneficial
- A genuine passion for cooking and a strong desire to build a career in the culinary field
