Salary: £40,000 circa + tips
Work Schedule: 48 hours per week (5 out of 7 days)

Overview and Opportunity:
Achieve Hospitality are delighted to be partnering with a luxury spa and wellness retreat in Whitby, North Yorkshire which has recently been transformed into a high-end coastal getaway.
They are keen for a Senior Sous Chef to support the Head Chef and support in the day-to-day running of kitchen, delivering a seasonal, wellness-led menu. You’ll help lead a passionate team in a brand-new kitchen, ensuring the highest culinary standards in a calm, focused environment.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations and leading the brigade.
- Maintain Rosette-level food quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Assist in seasonal menu planning and development of new dishes.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
- Oversee stock control, ordering, and food cost management.
- Lead service, ensuring smooth communication with front-of-house.
- Train, mentor, and develop junior chefs.
- Uphold cleanliness and equipment maintenance standards.
- Foster a professional, efficient, and positive kitchen environment.
- Step in as acting Head Chef during absences.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous or Senior Sous Chef in a Rosette or Michelin Star kitchen.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of modern cooking techniques and seasonal produce.
- High standards of food presentation, consistency, and kitchen hygiene.
- Solid understanding of food safety, HACCP, and allergen regulations.
- Experience with stock control, GP management, and supplier ordering.
- Creative input into menu development and dish innovation.
- Calm under pressure with excellent organisational skills.
- Passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.
- Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
