Job Summary:
The Kitchen Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the kitchen. You will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene standards are consistently upheld. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Cleaning & Sanitizing:
  • Wash and clean all kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans, and dishes.
  • Ensure all surfaces, floors, and kitchen stations are clean and sanitised to health and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of food storage areas, including refrigerators and freezers.
• Waste Management:
  • Properly dispose of kitchen waste, recycling materials, and manage bin areas.
  • Ensure all waste is sorted and removed regularly to keep the kitchen clean and organised.
• Supporting Kitchen Operations:
  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision (e.g., peeling, chopping vegetables).
  • Help chefs and kitchen staff during busy periods, ensuring they have the necessary tools and equipment.
  • Replenish clean kitchen items as needed.
• Stock Management:
  • Help unload, organize, and store kitchen deliveries efficiently.
  • Monitor and report stock levels of cleaning supplies, ensuring they are always adequately available.
• Health & Safety:
  • Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and maintain high standards in food handling areas.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment and appliances are cleaned properly and safely operated.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience: Previous experience as a kitchen porter or in a similar role is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided.
• Teamwork: Ability to work closely with kitchen staff and communicate effectively.
• Attention to Detail: Maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, standing for extended periods, and handling heavy loads.
