Overview and Opportunity
Achieve Hospitality are delighted to be supporting a beautiful, vibrant restaurant situated in Newcastle City Centre. They are keen for an experienced Head Chef to join their team. With modern Asian and American inspired menu and show-stopping cocktails, this restaurant is the place to be come rain or shine.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficiency and high standards in food preparation and presentation.
- Supervise kitchen staff, assigning tasks and ensuring proper execution of duties.
- Manage food inventory, placing orders for ingredients, and controlling waste.
- Maintain and enforce cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards in the kitchen.
- Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive work environment.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Schedule and manage kitchen staff shifts, ensuring proper coverage during peak times.
- Ensure consistent food quality and presentation, meeting the restaurant’s standards.
- Monitor food preparation and cooking techniques to guarantee high standards.
- Taste and review food before service to maintain quality and consistency.
- Manage food costs and work within the kitchen budget to maintain profitability.
- Implement cost-effective practices without compromising food quality.
- Track inventory and reduce food waste through efficient kitchen practices.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.
- Maintain proper hygiene practices for kitchen staff and facilities.
- Oversee the use of kitchen equipment, ensuring it is safe and well-maintained.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new cooking techniques, and emerging food trends.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong background in managing kitchen staff and leading a team.
- Experience working with food suppliers and managing inventory effectively.
- Strong palate and attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and quality control.
- Driven to keep up with food trends, industry innovations, and sustainability in the kitchen.
- Excellent communication skills, both with kitchen staff and front-of-house team.
- Knowledge of local health and safety regulations and the ability to maintain a safe, sanitary kitchen environment.
