Role: Head Chef
Location: Carlisle, Cumbria, UK
Salary: up to £50,000 (Dependant on Experience)
Work Schedule: Full time, permanent, working 5 days out of 7
Start Date: As soon as possible
Achieve Hospitality are delighted to be partnering with a traditional country inn nestled at the western edge of the Lake District. It’s ideally situated for visitors exploring the Wasdale and Eskdale valleys. The inn is renowned for its hearty food, real ales, and warm hospitality, making it a popular stop for walkers and travellers.
They are keen for an experienced Head Chef who combines creativity, leadership, and a strong understanding of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the kitchen team to ensure smooth, efficient service.
- Plan and prepare seasonal menus and daily specials using local ingredients.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Manage stock, ordering, and supplier relationships to control food costs.
- Ensure full compliance with hygiene, health, and food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with front-of-house to ensure a seamless dining experience.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a busy pub or inn.
- Strong skills in traditional British cuisine and menu planning.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of stock control, food costs, and hygiene standards (HACCP).
- Flexible and able to work evenings, weekends, and busy periods.
- Calm, hands-on, and passionate about quality food and local ingredients.
