Overview and Opportunity

We are assisting our private client in London with the recruitment of an experienced and reliable Gardener / Handyman to support the upkeep of a beautifully maintained private estate. The property spans approximately 900 m², including landscaped gardens, a basement level, a pond, fountains, a tennis court, and several recreational and outdoor areas.

Job Description

The Gardener / Handyman will be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the outdoor areas, water features, and minor repairs around the property. You will play a key role in ensuring the property is well-presented and fully operational at all times.
 
Property Size: Approx. 900 m² with landscaped gardens and basement
Team: Works alongside existing household staff
Working Hours: Full-time, 6 days per week (1 flexible day off)
Uniform: Provided (seasonal workwear and protective gear)
 
Role Responsibilities

Garden & Landscape Maintenance
● Mowing, edging, aerating, and fertilising lawns
● Seasonal planting, mulching, and weeding
● Pruning trees, shrubs, and hedges
● Pest control and seasonal spraying
● Monitoring and maintaining the automatic irrigation system
 
Water Features
● Cleaning and maintaining pond and fountains
● Monitoring water levels and filtration systems
● Removing algae and mineral deposits
 
Outdoor Areas & Infrastructure
● Sweeping paths, terraces, and stairways
● Cleaning exterior glass and decorative surfaces
● Maintaining rainwater inlets and drainage systems
 
Minor Repairs & Maintenance
● Replacing light bulbs and tightening fixtures
● Painting touch-ups and minor DIY tasks
● Assembling outdoor furniture and garden features
● Basic plumbing, ventilation, and electrical assistance
 
Event Support & General Duties
● Assisting with outdoor event setups
● Moving furniture, lighting, and garden equipment
● Performing occasional errands and general household tasks
 
Candidate Requirements

● Proven experience in both gardening and general maintenance
● Previous experience in a private household is desirable
● Strong practical, hands-on, and problem-solving skills
● Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks
● Comfortable with manual and outdoor work in all weather conditions
● Russian-speaker, spoken English and ability to follow instructions clearly
● Trustworthy, discreet, and self-motivated
