Overview and Opportunity
 
A private UHNW client is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to oversee the engineering systems and technical operations of their 900 m² luxury private residence in London, as well as a nearby staff residence and associated infrastructure. The role also includes occasional remote and on-site support for international residences in Cyprus and the UAE.

Job Description
 
You will be responsible for the smooth operation, maintenance, and technical integrity of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems across the main residence and staff accommodation. This includes HVAC, automation and smart home technologies, water treatment, and electrical infrastructure.
 
The property is maintained to exceptionally high standards and operates year-round, with the principal in residence seasonally. You’ll work alongside other property and household staff to ensure the property operates smoothly and is always prepared for occupancy.
 
Property & Team Info:

• Main residence: Approx. 900 m²
• Additional staff accommodation on-site
• Existing household team of 6+ staff, including housekeepers, chef, PA, and security
• Working hours: Full-time, flexibility required based on the needs of the property
• Occasional international travel and out-of-hours support expected

 
Role Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operation and preventive maintenance of all engineering systems (HVAC, electrical, water treatment, automation, etc.)
• Conduct regular inspections to identify technical issues and coordinate necessary repairs or upgrades
• Maintain comprehensive service logs, manuals, technical documentation, and compliance records
• Liaise with and supervise third-party contractors, ensuring quality and safety standards are met
• Respond rapidly to emergencies such as equipment failure, leaks, or power outages
• Provide technical support remotely for international residences in Cyprus and the UAE
• Monitor system performance and recommend improvements or updates where necessary
• Coordinate access to plant/technical areas, adhering to safety and security protocols
• Report directly to the Estate Manager or the Principal’s representative

 
Candidate Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Automation, or related technical field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities management, private estates, or high-end residential environments
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, water systems, and smart home automation
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and electrical schematics
• Strong IT proficiency, including Excel and building/system monitoring software
• Fluent in Russian and confident in English (B2+ level minimum)
• Flexible, professional, and discreet with strong problem-solving skills
• Willingness to travel internationally and support the estate outside normal hours when needed
