Role: Head Chef
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire, UK
Salary: £45,000 circa + tips and profit share
Work Schedule: 48 hours
Start Date: Immediate Start Available
 
Achieve Hospitality are delighted to be partnering with a charming waterfront gastropub and boutique hotel, nestled along the River Great Ouse on Bedford’s historic Embankment. It offers a warm and relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on quality and sustainability.
 
They are on the hunt for a talented and enthusiastic Head Chef to join their Kitchen Brigade.
 
Role Responsibilities: 

  • Design seasonal, cost-effective menus that meet customer and dietary needs. 
  • Manage, train, and schedule kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain high standards in food preparation, taste, and presentation.
  • Oversee stock levels, control food costs, reduce waste, and manage supplier relationships.
  • Ensure kitchen hygiene and food safety standards are met.
  • Support financial goals by managing kitchen budgets and performance.
  • Work closely with front-of-house staff and management to ensure smooth service.
  • Introduce new dishes and stay current with culinary trends.
  • Hire, review, and develop kitchen team members.
  • Plan and execute menus for special events and catering, if required.

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef.
  • Formal culinary qualification and Food Safety certification.
  • Strong leadership, kitchen management, and communication skills.
  • Skilled in menu creation, stock control, and cost management.
  • High standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation.
  • Creative, reliable, and calm under pressure.
  • Flexible with shifts, including evenings and weekends.
