Overview and Opportunity
An exclusive private estate in the South of France is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Manager to oversee all aspects of property maintenance and facility operations. The residence is a luxury villa maintained to exceptional standards, requiring a professional with strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure seamless functionality across the estate.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Estate Manager and other household staff to ensure that all systems operate efficiently and that the property remains in pristine condition at all times.
Job Description
The Maintenance Manager will take full responsibility for the upkeep and functionality of the villa’s infrastructure, electrical systems, and grounds. This is a hands-on role suited to a proactive and solutions-driven professional capable of both performing repairs and managing external contractors when required.
The property operates year-round and includes multiple buildings, landscaped gardens, and leisure facilities. The Maintenance Manager will coordinate maintenance schedules, respond to urgent repair requests, and manage budgets and suppliers to ensure the smooth running of the estate.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee all maintenance and facility management for the villa and estate grounds.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Perform hands-on repairs where possible, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
- Manage service schedules, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors and specialist service providers.
- Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, procurement, and stock of tools and materials.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and out-of-hours callouts when needed.
- Liaise with the Estate Manager and other household staff to support property operations and guest readiness.
- Ensure safety standards and regulatory compliance across all maintenance activities.
Candidate Requirements
- Certified Electrician with a recognized qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an electrician or maintenance professional, ideally within luxury residential properties.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, fault diagnosis, and repairs.
- Proven ability to manage maintenance tasks autonomously and efficiently.
- Fluency in English (French language skills highly desirable).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Discreet, trustworthy, and professional with strong interpersonal communication.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and respond to emergency callouts.
- Eligible to work in France (EU passport or valid work permit required).
